Dueling Tips from a Pro (Cesar Gonzalez)

Though he doesn't go too deep into game theory, there are some good things said here that we can all think about.

He mentions that when playing against LightSworn you should be careful with using up all of your resources, especially if you don't have game. Judgement Dragon will straight wreck you if you aren't careful. Swarming the field just because you can is not a good idea and will lose you many matches because of this.(falling into Torrential Tribute/Mirror Force for multiple monsters. Also Lightning Vortex etc.) Card advantage is always something you should be aware of. Let your opponents make the mistake of using up their cards while you look to accomplish dominance by using as few as possible cards. Generally, you should never leave yourself with no followup play to counter whatever your opponent will come at you with.

Mr. Gonzalez also talks about slowing down and thinking out your moves. When I heard him say this I immediately thought about one of my comrades who was the number 1 ranked player in the state of Alabama for a long time. This kid plays his turn at mach speeds. How can the best player in Alabama be that good while seemingly not thinking out his plays? The answer is simple. Everyone is different and plays comfortably at different paces. The thing with him is that he has been playing so long that most of the decisions come relatively easy to him and he can make the correct play with minimal effort. I think; however, that it is never a bad idea to slow down and make sure you are making the best possible play.
